PGH QUALITY INITIATIVES

Students in NUR-675 should review the four scenarios of the initiatives described on this page. Select one of the initiatives as a topic for your Project One and Project Two assignments. Each of these initiatives involve an assessment and analysis of PGH, followed by recommendations and plans for evaluation.

Project One

Project One is your assessment and analysis of PGH as it relates to the initiative you choose.  You will will apply evidenced-based practice theory to guide your work. Remember to start with a PICOT question and select an analysis framework (such as a SWOT analysis) to frame your assessment.  In your Project One report, you will include the following as the key content:

1. Introduction (about the project -- tell the reader what you are going to do) -- i.e., an organizational assessment related to your chosen initiative). Describe your assessment approach (which framework you will use).

2. Background information: Introduce PGH and tell the reader what kind of place this is and who it serves.  In a new paragraph, introduce the initiative. Include relevant data.

3. State your PICOT question and provide a brief literature review. The literature review should be no more than 3 -4 paragraphs, include the method used for searching for evidence and the key findings.

4 Start the assessment / analysis with a brief description of the framework (i.e., what is a SWOT and why is it used?) Present your SWOT  Within the assessment and analysis you will integrate the items from the Rubric (DEI, sources of evidence, analyze factors, such as patient safety, stakeholders, data analysis,  financial, legal, and ethical considerations, technology and communication systems. within the SWOT framework

This paper will  establish the foundation for Project Two where you present your recommendations.

Project Two

will continue with an application of your assessment. This will include (a) your recommendations with brief rationales, and (b) your plan about how to evaluate the recommendations that would be implemented. It will be completed in the form of a presentation, rather than a paper.

See course for assignment details.
